FYI news report: According to the preliminary investigation, Kevin Harlfinger, 40, of Perth Amboy was being pursued by Cranford Police Officers Christopher Folinusz and Ryan McSharry, while driving a stolen vehicle southbound on the Garden State Parkway. Harlfinger crashed near exit 131 in Woodbrige and shortly after exchanged gunfire with Cranford officers. Harlfinger was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:04 a.m., December 29. Officer Folinusz sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound and both officers were treated at University Hospital in Newark and later released.
